Materials
Material is
the beginning.
Materials are often where an object begins. Casting, machining, hammering, ageing, electroplating, burning, polishing and hand-finishing are used to reveal character rather than erase process.
Timber against aged brass. Rough cast surfaces beside something precisely machined. Dark, imperfect textures interrupted by a polished edge.
For SYML, these experiments are not simply finishes applied at the end of design. They often become the starting point for the object itself.
